If you’re lucky enough to live near a grandparent, there can be nothing better than just stopping by for conversation and to share a meal on a chilly winter afternoon. We often talk about enjoying a glass of sweet tea on the porch in the summertime or gathering with family for Sunday supper, but there’s something really special about a quiet and casual lunch on a cold day in January. It’s quality time when you can count on Grandma not only telling family stories and reflecting on cherished memories, but also whipping up something you wouldn’t typically make for yourself (or pick-up at Publix). We’ve rounded up a few of her go-to recipes for lunch during the winter months that include a warm and hearty soup, simple, two-ingredient sandwiches, and old-fashioned favorites like Chicken and Dumplings and meatloaf.
