To me, this IS the Ultimate Bagel for Sunday Brunch! Most of us usually think of adding a couple of items to our Sunday bagel, but not me! Rather than limiting yourself to one or two ingredients on a bagel, why not put EVERYTHING between those two halves…whitefish spread AND scallion & chive cream cheese…smoked salmon or Nova lox…lettuce, tomato, cucumber & radish…& caviar, which is what makes this bagel genius. Smoked salmon, whitefish spread & caviar are incredible, and decadent, when eaten together, and adding the assorted veggies creates great texture. All you need to add is your favorite Sunday Brunch beverage, & you will be all set. Not only is this classic for Sunday Brunch, Ultimate Sunday Brunch Bagels are perfect for Weekend Football, Tailgating…& of course, Break Fast for Yom Kippur. I really like this for tailagating, because there is so little preparation involved. I would use caviar that most fits your budget. Most grocery stores carry affordable caviar, as does Amazon, and if the budget allows, you can definitely splurge on Alaskan Salmon Roe Caviar, which is delicious, yet still affordable.
plain cream cheese...for less adventuresome eaters & kids
2 heads Boston lettuce
smoked salmon or nova lox
sliced Muenster cheese (for those who are not smoked salmon or lox fans)
Arrange the bagels in a serving basket...
Arrange the bagels in a basket or bowl...cutting the bagels in half ahead of time makes less mess when everyone begins building their bagels.
Transfer the cream cheese(s) & whitefish spread to serving bowls...add butter knives.
Place lettuce leaves on a large serving platter, overlapping lettuce leaves as needed. Slice the tomatoes, cucumber & radishes. Arrange the salmon/lox, tomatoes, cucumbers & radishes on the lettuce leaves. Roll the Muenster cheese slices & arrange with the other ingredients. Transfer the caviar to a small serving bowl with a small serving spoon.
Time to build Genius Sunday Brunch Bagels: lightly toast your favorite bagel...it's Everything for me...schmear one half with scallion & chive cream cheese...the other half with whitefish spread...add a lettuce leaf to the bottom half...next, smoked salmon/lox...next, tomato...then cucumber slices...then radish slices...add a dollop of caviar...place the other half on top. Unhinge your jaws & devour!
For those who do not like smoked salmon or lox...substitute Muenster cheese...delish!
